I often get asked ‘why I run’. I find that’s a tricky question to answer and I’ve only ever read one response that I thought really answered the question. I read it in a book call Ultra Marathon Man written by the ultra-marathon man himself, Dean Karnazes. He was asked that same question by a pizza delivery man when competing in an ultra-marathon, I’m not going to give away the story, but I would recommend the read and am going to attempt to answer that question in a similar way to what he does.
I run because running is up to me, I get out what I put in
I run because I’m a competitor
I run because I’m a bit of a tight arse and running is free
I run because it’s the best way to sight see in new places
I run because it gives me time to think and reflect
I run because I love to eat
I run so when my mum makes cheesecake and apple crumble for dessert I don’t have to choose, I can have both
I run because it reveals my strengths and weaknesses as an athlete and as a person
I run so I can grow my nails long and paint them and I don’t have to worry about taping them or cutting them for netball
I run because I love being able to sit down after a session or long run and relax knowing I’ve earned the time to chill out
I run because the feeling you get after setting a goal, working for it, and then achieving it, is one of the most satisfying feelings I’ve ever had
I run because I love to push myself and create new limits
I run because it teaches me lessons about dedication, commitment, persistence, sacrifice, hard work, resilience, humility, integrity and achievement
I run because running teaches me skills that enable me to succeed in competition and in life
Why do you run?

Good afternoon. Thank you…Love your blog!.
